المستخلص

This study aims to examine the extent to which green economy concepts are embedded in the science curricula at the intermediate stage in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Specifically, it analyzes the presence of these concepts in the first intermediate grade science textbooks across the three academic terms (first, second, and third) of the 1446 AH – 2024 edition. The study employed a descriptive methodology using content analysis. A checklist comprising 75 concepts was developed and categorized into three main dimensions: the environmental, economic, and social dimensions. The results showed that green economy concepts appeared a total of 622 times across the three textbooks. The third-term textbook accounted for the highest percentage (51.77%), followed by the second-term textbook (26.69%), and the first-term textbook (21.54%). The environmental dimension dominated with 75.4% of the total occurrences, compared to 21.7% for the economic dimension and only 2.9% for the social dimension. The study recommends increasing the focus on clean energy and sustainable development concepts, enhancing interactive educational activities, and developing project-based learning strategies to foster critical thinking and environmental problem-solving skills
